I’d add that ‘fakes’ are the porn of the sneaker world. No one admits to it, but damn, there’s another billion dollar industry right there that apparently has no customers? 🤷‍♂️.

Great post. I had the opportunity of chatting with Adena (Co-founder of Another Lane) and they are building a great platform.

If an authenticity check requires checking UPC codes, stitching and removal of insoles then it’s almost impossible to spot a fake on 99% of shoes worn on foot in the street. I’ve genuinely never seen a Wotherspoon Air Max in real life so have no clue what to look for / expect and if you dress it up right - then people who might think “fake” let it slide because of the rest of the fit is 💯 . The quality and build is so good these days, I’ve been tempted. Oh - I’ve had many pairs direct from Nike and been high off the glue. That’s not always a reliable way to check anymore.

This is 100% true. For kicks that are worn down and already tattered, its harder to tell whether it's fake or not. There are apps available that can help verify or, like I said, you could shoot down to a local shop and have them take a look.

But some folks just don't really care! And that's totally fine, too. Wear what you like. That's all that matters.
